There were a lot of tempting ‘leap’ puns we could have opened this article with. But we didn’t. Just remember that.
The LEAPMOTOR B10 is a relatively new name to British roads, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's arrived without a plan. This isn't a brand that's simply hopping into the market and hoping for the best.
While some established manufacturers are busy patting themselves on the back, Leapmotor is busy leapfrogging expectations and making a rather compelling case for itself.
Furthermore, it looks determined to prove that taking the leap into electric motoring doesn't have to mean taking a leap of faith. Sorry.
Take The Leap
Yes, this is another Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer that has been making serious moves into the European market. But unlike some of the newer brands, it's got a rather significant name in its corner.
Stellantis.
That's the automotive group behind brands including Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën, Fiat, Jeep and Alfa Romeo.
Stellantis has a 51% stake in the international Leapmotor business, giving the brand access to an established European automotive network, expertise and aftersales infrastructure. And we think that’s rather helpful!
It Looks The Part
The first thing you notice about the B10 is its girth.
At 4,515mm long, 1,885mm wide and 1,655mm tall, it's firmly in family SUV territory.
Clean bodywork and a fairly modern design manages to make it look futuristic without taking it too far away from today’s tastes.
The hidden door handles help keep the bodywork looking tidy, 18-inch alloy wheels add some flair, a panoramic sunroof with an electric blind, and ambient lighting inside complete the latest trends.
Beauty On The Inside
The B10 has a rather enthusiastic approach to equipment.
The cabin is dominated by a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, accompanied by an 8.8-inch digital instrument display. That's a lot of screen real estate.
You also get wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in-car Wi-Fi, app-based remote functions and a 12-speaker sound system.
The Practical Bits
It's a family SUV, so it needs to do the boring stuff well. Thankfully, it does.
There's seating for five, a 430-litre boot with the rear seats in place and up to 1,700 litres of luggage capacity when they're folded down.
There's also a 25-litre front storage compartment, or frunk, which is particularly useful for keeping charging cables away from your shopping, luggage or anything else you've managed to squeeze into the back.
And at 1,845kg, it's worth remembering that this is a substantial electric SUV, rather than a little city car wearing an SUV costume.
The Electric Outlook
Underneath the B10's rather tidy exterior sits a 160kW electric motor producing 218bhp and 240Nm of torque.
Power goes to the road through an automatic transmission, with the B10 capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in around eight seconds.
And, as with any electric vehicle, the instant delivery of torque means there's no waiting around for a petrol engine to wake up, find its glasses and decide what gear it wants.
You also get three driving modes, allowing you to tailor the experience to your preferences.
A 69.9kWh battery, with 67.1kWh of usable capacity has an official WLTP combined range of up to 261 miles.
The B10 supports DC rapid charging at up to 168kW, with the manufacturer's quoted charging time of approximately 17 minutes from 30% to 80% under suitable conditions for this specification.
That's a fairly useful coffee stop.
You also get 11kW AC charging capability, making home or workplace charging a practical option if you have access to a compatible three-phase supply.
Essentially, charge at home when you can, use rapid charging when you need to and try not to spend your entire life watching the battery percentage go up.
Nobody needs that sort of hobby.
Safety Isn't An Afterthought
One of the more reassuring things about the B10 is its independent safety performance.
The Leapmotor B10 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating in 2025.
Its assessment included:
-
93% adult occupant protection.
-
93% child occupant protection.
-
84% vulnerable road user protection.
-
85% safety assist.
There's also a substantial collection of driver assistance technology.
Depending on the feature, this includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, lane keeping assistance, emergency lane keeping, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alerts and driver fatigue monitoring.
You also get a 360-degree camera system, making parking and manoeuvring a little less stressful.
The Summit Drive Deal
This Leapmotor B10 is available through Summit Drive on both Personal Contract Hire and Business Contract Hire, making it an interesting option for work or play.
Leo Stansfield - Sales Manager
“I think the B10 is a really interesting option for anyone who's been considering making the switch to electric but perhaps hasn't found the right car or deal yet. You're getting a spacious, well-equipped family SUV, a decent range and rapid charging capability, all without having to spend a fortune to get into electric motoring.
What makes this offer even more appealing is the price we're advertising it at, particularly with metallic paint included and pre-registered stock available. It makes taking that first leap into electric a lot more affordable, and I think it's definitely one worth having a look at!”
