Top of the Peaks: Nissan Qashqai N-Connecta

The year was 2007. Nissan built a bridge between the hatchback and SUV - and called it the Qashqai. It was arguably one of the first of its kind.

Obviously, they knew back then, that in 2025 it would still be holding its own in a world overflowing with SUVs. You only have to look as far as what they named it. A nod to the Qashqai people of Iran - nomads who navigate rugged terrain with effortless poise. Perhaps a subtle hint at the company’s ambitions for the car’s own journey.

Climb with Confidence

When you’ve survived nearly two decades under the Qashqai umbrella, you gain the kind of confidence that lets you reinvent yourself - not out of desperation, but because evolution just comes naturally.

Today, the Qashqai comes in a few variations, each with its own personality.

1.3 DiG-T Mild Hybrid N-Connecta

Sporting a glass roof in Fuji sunset red, this is the daily-life hero: smooth, nimble, and ready to go.

1.3 DiG-T 158 N-Connecta Xtronic

More oomph? The Xtronic adds 158 bhp and 0-60mph in 9.2 seconds. Stick a glass roof on top, and suddenly your drive has a dramatic backdrop.

1.5 e-Power 205 N-Connecta Glass Roof

This one's for the eco-warriors, blending electric gliding with petrol performance  making it quiet, efficient, and wallet-friendly.

Drive With Dependability

The Qashqai delivers. That’s what’s kept the wheels turning all this time. It ticks the boxes on style and tech - with features varying by trim but always impressive.

Beauty on the Inside

The cabin centres around a 12.3" NissanConnect touchscreen with Google Built-in (Maps, Assistant, Play) and multi-profile support for up to six drivers. Higher trims add a 12.3" digital cluster and 10.8" head-up display for glance-and-go clarity. You also get dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, plenty of USB-C ports, and wireless phone charging. You can even unlock massaging leather seats and a Bose premium sound system in a true “treat yourself” package.

Beauty on the Outside

Outside, the Qashqai boasts LED headlights, daytime running lights, and sequential indicators (on higher trims). Practical touches include auto-folding heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, and a shark-fin antenna, with a power tailgate for easy access to the boot.

Safety, Security & Sanity

The Qashqai seems unflappable with ProPILOT Assist and Navi-Link handling adaptive cruise and lane-keeping, even reading the road ahead to prepare for bends and junctions.

Nissan’s Intelligent Safety Suite is basically a full team of digital spotters: forward collision warning, AEB for pedestrians and cyclists, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and traffic-sign recognition.

Parking’s a piece of pee, with a rearview camera or 360° Around View Monitor on higher trims. Add a full set of airbags, tyre-pressure monitoring, auto emergency call, hill-start assist and auto hold, and you’re set.

The View From the Summit

Step inside any variant and it’s obvious why the Qashqai has kept its crown. The cabin is bright, clever, and practical.  Twin cupholders, bottle slots, luggage boards, and finishes that feel sturdy yet polished. N-Connecta trims add subtle style cues - silver roof rails and chrome window frames.

Why It’s Top of the Peaks

The Qashqai isn’t about raw sales stats - it’s about striking a balance. School runs, motorway miles, and weekend escapes are all handled with grace, efficiency, and style. Mild-hybrid purring, e-Power humming, and a panoramic glass roof soaking up the sky makes life feel a little lighter and a little brighter.
