Design & Presence
The Kamiq Monte Carlo certainly isn't shy. Gloss black styling details, sporty bumpers and distinctive alloy wheels give it plenty of personality. It looks sharper than you’d expect from a Skoda.
The T-Roc R-Line, however, just looks like a more expensive car. It's lower, wider-looking, and the R-Line kit gives it a bit of attitude without going over the top.
Park them together and the Volkswagen will bring in more admirers.
Winner: T-Roc
Interior & Comfort
Firstly, you'll quickly notice they're cut from the same family tree.
The Kamiq offers an uncluttered cabin that's easy to use, with solid build quality and all the technology most drivers actually need.
The T-Roc edges ahead thanks to its more premium feel. Sports seats, cleaner design and a slightly more upmarket finish. Though, neither disappoints.
Winner: T-Roc
Space & Practicality
The public are turning to SUVs to handle all the jobs without a struggle. School runs, shopping trips, weekends away and the occasional flat-pack furniture mission.
The Kamiq is surprisingly roomy for its size. Rear passengers have generous legroom, visibility is excellent and the boot is more than capable of everyday family life.
The T-Roc offers a useful boot too, but prioritises style slightly more than outright practicality.
For squeezing the most out of its dimensions, Skoda still knows a thing or two.
Winner: Kamiq
Technology
Thankfully, the VW Group understands that technology should make life easier -not require an engineering degree.
Both models include:
-
Smartphone connectivity
-
Digital driver displays
-
Parking sensors
-
Driver assistance systems
-
Automatic DSG transmission
The T-Roc's infotainment feels slightly slicker, but the Kamiq counters with excellent equipment levels for the money.
There's very little separating them.
Winner: Draw
Performance & Driving
The T-Roc's 1.5-litre eTSI engine produces 150PS, giving it noticeably stronger acceleration and effortless motorway performance. Combined with Volkswagen's excellent DSG gearbox, it feels relaxed no matter what.
Whereas the Kamiq's 1.0 TSI is a smooth, economical and perfectly capable engine, but you'll notice the difference when overtaking or carrying a full load of passengers.
More power rarely hurts.
Winner: T-Roc
Running Costs
The Kamiq lands a tidy counterattack here.
Its smaller engine delivers excellent efficiency, insurance costs are generally lower and Skoda has built its reputation around offering plenty of car for the money.
The T-Roc asks a little more in return for its extra performance and premium badge.
For drivers focused on keeping monthly costs sensible, the Kamiq makes a compelling case.
Winner: Kamiq

Summit-Up
Think of these as two siblings who chose different careers.
One became an architect. The other became an accountant.
Both are dependable. Both are clever. One simply spends a little more on tailoring.
